The CMX90A002 is a two-stage, fully matched MMIC power amplifier delivering up to +32.5 dBm of saturated output power for use across the 860–960 MHz frequency range, making it well suited to licence-free ISM-band applications.
Designed to provide greater flexibility for new RF designs, the device supports a wide collector supply-voltage range of 1.9-4.5 V. This makes it suitable for systems operating from a range of power architectures, including supercapacitor backup storage and single-cell Li-Ion battery supplies.
Housed in a compact 3 × 3 mm VQFN-16 package, the CMX90A002 reduces package area by approximately 44% compared with a 4 × 4 mm package, helping designers save valuable PCB space in compact connected applications.
The CMX90A002 is highly integrated for ease of use, minimising external component count and reducing board area. RF input and output matching are incorporated on-chip, together with active bias circuitry and an input DC-blocking capacitor.
Using advanced GaAs HBT technology to provide a combination of high efficiency and gain, the CMX90A002 is suited to smart metering, IoT, wireless modules and other ISM-band radio applications where RF performance, board space and power architecture are important design considerations.
The CMX90A002 is recommended for new designs. CMX90A003 and CMX90A004 remain recommended for existing designs.
