Company History

Founded in 1968, CML Micro was established with a vision to develop highly integrated semiconductor solutions that simplified electronic system design and reduced component count. As the UK’s first fabless semiconductor company, CML pioneered a design-led business model that combined engineering innovation with access to world-class manufacturing capabilities.

One of the company’s earliest successes was the FX101 frequency-sensitive switch. Originally developed for industrial control applications, its exceptional reliability led to a production life spanning more than three decades and saw it deployed in demanding applications including Concorde’s flight management system.

Building on this foundation of innovation, CML expanded into professional, industrial and communications markets, developing a broad portfolio of analogue, digital, RF and mixed-signal technologies. Through continuous investment in engineering excellence and product development, the company established a reputation for technical expertise, product longevity and customer-focused support.

Today, CML Micro is recognised worldwide for its expertise in communications semiconductors, serving customers across Professional & Industrial Communications, Network Infrastructure, Industrial IoT, and Aerospace & Defence markets.
