On April 8, 2025, a groundbreaking initiative unfolded as Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM) successfully delivered a live mathematics lesson from the UK to students in The Gambia—over 4,000 kilometers away—without relying on internet connectivity.
Utilizing DRM shortwave technology, the lesson was broadcast in English and supplemented with AI-generated translations in French and German. Students accessed the content via tablets connected to local Wi-Fi hotspots provided by DRM-enabled radios.
As a proud member of the DRM Digital Radio Consortium, CML Micro celebrates this world-first achievement, where DRM showcases the power of its unique long-distance digital radio technology to deliver remote education.
